What I wish I had seen this weekend.

This weekend was ridiculous. Improv around the clock at the Del Close Marathon, the debut of Alton Brown’s new show on Food Network, really disgustingly hot heat…so many factors contributing to us missing some amazing concerts/shows. Oh well. I think it’s still worth mentioning what we all missed. (If you caught any of these, please leave a comment and tell us how it went!)

Edie Brickell & The New Bohemians performed two shows in New York […]

I’ve Got Confessing To Do

I don’t get Pippin.

I rented the 1982 Recording with Ben (natch) Vereen and a hideous blonde man, just to dip my toe into what I suspected were dangerous waters, and was totally right.

I saw a production of Pippin when I was a girl, and I found it creepy and non-linear, which it was and is. I remember watching a videotape of a high school performance at my friend Rachel Yaverbaum’s house. “She’s sucking in,” Rachel pointed out— and it […]

Project Runway: Doggy Style!

Doggy CLothes

Uncle Tim is worried about me. I’ve been wearing a lot of synthetic fabric lately. He told me that it’s just not working for him…it doesn’t matter if it’s easy to pack and I can throw it in the wash…there are other factors to consider. Instead of crying, I give him a hug and tell him “Only natural fibers from now on, pinky swear.” His face lights up. It may be tough love but, when it […]

Bands On The Run

Some of us are spending our summer scurrying from one air-conditioned space to another, drinking beer and complaining about the heat. Others have decided to beat the heat by training for marathons.

Glennis McMurray, Shannon Oneill, and our own Jen Hammaker are running the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco in October for Team In Training. The three met performing at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, and […]

Vanilla Mistress

Grab your favorite cat-o-nine tails, strap one on, and head to the D-Lounge. Ophira Eisenberg has a one woman show and I want to see it. She says its somewhat of a work in progress, so you could call it a wip. Get it? Ha ha! wip…whip. Oh, here is a note from her about it…

“Vanilla Mistress is about my experiences in the S&M world for the purposes of writing an article for Marie Claire.  Find out how I fared as a dominatrix!  Find out about […]
