Blog Day!

Happy Blog Day.
This phrase makes me feel like I am from the future! Step on my moving sidewalk with me, and let’s take a stroll around the blogosphere drinking bubble tea.

To celebrate Blog day, we’re supposed to list our 5 favorite blogs. So many to choose from!
Let’s just say, right off the bat, our own blogs are our favorites. Julie, Sara, […]

Project Runway: Jet, Set, Match

Louis

I’m trying to convince Uncle Tim to start a Bridge club with me. It just sounds so civilized. Fall and winter sunday afternoons with friends, playing bridge, eating home-made scones and sipping earl grey tea (or perhaps a warming Rioja). He seems a bit skeptical…after all, what does one wear to play cards?…but I think I’m wearing him down.

See Me, Hear Me - Tonight

***Warning - This post DOES NOT involve Michael Cerveris, star of the Original Broadway Production of The Who’s Tommy. DO NOT GET YOUR HOPES UP.***

Tonight at the PIT, Kate Tellers is trying out her new show “See Me, Hear Me”. Kate’s asked 5 writers to each come up with a personal essay, all based on the same image. And when I say personal, I mean PERSONAL. From what I’ve heard, this show will be more revealing than Mariah Carey’s […]

Weekend Plans

Summer is almost over - you better make this weekend count. If you haven’t gone to Warm Up at P.S. 1 or the Pool Party at McCarren Pool, you only have two weekends left to do it. Then it will be MONTHS before you’ll get to slide around a mound of sweaty hipsters in American Apparel bikini tops and giant sunglasses! You don’t want to be one of those losers who goes […]

Project Runway: Mommy and Me

Mommy-and-Me-Essentials

Holy Pucci Headscarf! Guess what happened today?! I have four words for you: Uncle Tim. Double Dutch. Yes, luvvies, Uncle Tim can rock the ropes like Deacon Frye in the “Amen” opening credits.

Speaking of ropes…I wonder who’s going to hang themselves this week. Perhaps the powers-that-be-fashionable will smile upon us and dish out an Angela-Big Red double “Auf.” That would be sweet as apple strudel.

Step Up = Best Movie Ever

step up

There are so many reasons why you should see Step Up. First of all, it’s a dance movie - which is a near-faultess genre (besides Save The Last Dance. Watching Julia Stiles dance is like watching a parakeet try to kill the bird in the mirror.) Class struggles! Sexy poor dancers! Sad rich ballerinas! Abortions! These movies have it all.

Secondly, it was written and directed by women. In 2005, of all the working […]

Renata and Julie Attend a Dog Fashion Show Together, Then Interview Each Other About the Dog Fashion Show

by Julie Klausner & Renata Espinosa

Apparently, it’s Pet Fashion Week.

I got a call to this effect at around 5 PM on Saturday, just as I was about to go into a yoga class. Leslie Padgett, editor-in-chief of The New York Dog Magazine, to which I am a regular contributor of dog-themed comics, left me this voicemail:

“Hey Julie, it’s Les…just wanted to let you know that I have extra tickets to this black tie dog fashion show…it’s an event for […]
